RDASA have identified key areas of interest for Members including the following Special Interest Groups:

• Obstetrics
• Anaesthetics
• Surgery
• Mental Health
• Female Doctors
• International Medical Graduates

Those members who nominate to become part of these groups maintain communication and information exchange mostly via email.  This has proven effective in providing information to interested rural doctors and also as a means of obtaining feedback on issues relating to the special interest.

The Obstetrics Special Interest group held a teleconference in April 2006.  This was attended by rural doctors as well as Dr Brian Peat from the WCH.  This was well received and it was agreed to hold discussions such as this on a regular basis.
