Little patients only have little problems, right? Wrong! In this mix of rotating sessions (choose 3 out of 4), a variety of experts will guide you through orthopaedic problems, neonatal resuscitation, acute sport injuries and neurological/seizure presentations as they relate to the paediatric field.

9.15Nightmare on Airway Street (reprise)

Immerse yourself in a fully interactive session lead by fellow GPs who practice anaesthetics, allowing you to practice and discuss various aspects of airway management of the critically unwell in a safe setting. Scenarios include:
● the anatomically difficult airway
● cognitive aids and teamwork in a crisis
● rescue techniques for the ‘can’t intubate, can’t oxygenate’ situation

A full on, ‘smashed up car and all’ extrication session will emphasise:
● safe approach to emergency scene
● role of multi-service team (CFS, SAAS, SES) at the roadside
● safe vehicle extrication techniques.

A yearly favourite and staple of the RDASA Masterclass. Interactive scenario based emergency cardiac medicine tips for general practitioners focusing on resuscitation and emergency presentations. Just remember to check your own pulse...

2.15Plenary Retrieval Discussion Panel

An interactive panel discussion on critical illness in the bush from perspectives of ambulance service, Rural Emergency Responder Network doctor, rural GP and retrieval service. This will be a panel discussion with audience participation focussed on gnarly rural emergency care, observing the path travelled by the patient and looking at the role of different health professionals.

Mental Health Disorders Training for Rural Practitioners (MHST)

Louise Stone and Molly Shorthouse will be presenting a face-to-face mental health workshop that equip you with the skills necessary to treat mental health in a GP setting, for both rural and metropolitan practitioners. Successful completion of the workshop will enable you to access Medicare Items 2715 and 2717.


This dynamic one day workshop will cover depression, anxiety and somatisation through to the correct use of medication and understanding patient treatment care plans.

  • Review of 15 Radiology films
  • Extended film review / CT cases / MRI
  • Practical hands on skill stations – Taking Films (chest, limbs) and Ultrasound


After completion of this workshop you will be able to:

  • Select clinically appropriate imaging in a timely manner
  • Perform a limb and Chest X-ray efficiently
  • Identify abnormalities on Imaging
